Hello my name is Justin-kingsley Kirouac and I’m coming out to Tofino and area to surf, I’m a beginner and was wondering what are some good surf breaks around the town? Preferable low in surfing population. Please write me back. Thank-you!

Hi Justin,
Thank you very much for your inquiry about surfing in the Tofino Longbeach area of BC. One of the wonderful gifts that the Tofino-area brings to BC is plenty of beaches that provide surfing conditions for all levels of surfers.

Of course surfing conditions will vary from day to day and season to season. One day you may be surfing knee-high gentle waves at a beach in Tofino, and return to find double-overhead barreling waves the next day. Asking at one of the three local surf shops is a good way to make sure that you do not get in over your head (literally!).

If you are just starting out with surfing, or surfing in Tofino, BC for the first time, we recommend surfing at one of North or South Chesterman Beach, which are close to town and usually provide gentle waves in a spectacular West Coast setting. Long Beach also provides good surf for beginners on many summer days, but you should make sure to check the surfing conditions at a local Tofino surf shop before making the 25 minute drive to go surfing at Long Beach.

We hope this message has been helpful. Please remember to post your surfing experience at tofino-longbeach.com when you get home so that you can share your new knowledge of Tofino's awesome surf!

Cheers,
The Staff at tofino-longbeach.com
